THE FLOATING KING. (tribute to Muhammad Ali)

THE FLOATING KING. (tribute to Muhammad Ali).
'Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee'. The floating king is gone. Death where is thy sting?
The once agile, vivacious, exuberant, energetic Muhammad Ali after 32years of battling with Parkinson's disease finally succumbed and went the way of all men. Nothing best illustrates the nothingness of man.
To the world you might be a king, an icon, a celebrity. But to the Angel of Death you are just a name on the List.
Indeed every soul shall taste death.
The greatest has gone on to meet the Most Greatest.
Though my generation wasn't around to witness his great bouts, his legend has continued and would continue to live even after our generation.
When the Lord calls, we must heed.
Rest in peace, the "king" the "greatest" the poet, the activist, the boxer.
Malcolm x and Martin Luther King awaits your arrival.
Enjoy your well deserved rest till the Day we are called to Account.
May God be Kind to Muhammad Ali.

COUNTDOWN TO PERDITION

The Chinese often say-as a form of greeting- may you live in interesting times. There are interesting times and there are interesting times. In Nigeria today, we live in interesting times.
From the enduring Boko Haram menace in the North East, to the separationist agitations in the south East, in addition to the renewed militancy in the Niger Delta, coupled with the rampaging "herdsmen", it is indeed an interesting time to be a Nigerian.
With each passing day, Nigeria appears to be edging closer to the precipice. At this rate, only our legendary luck in collusion with divine providence could pull us back.
It is no gainsaying that President Buhari has his hands full. As often said, the evils that men do lives after them. In retrospection, the misdeeds of our thieving elites have finally caught up with us.
A nation where criminals of its Commonwealth are celebrated and protected by their kinsmen is a nation waiting on the wings of destruction. We have allowed our hunter-gatherer instincts to prevail over our saner minds. Morality and conscience died in Nigeria the day we saw oil.
Elections in a diverse nation like ours either serves as a unifying factor or an instrument of division. The 2015 elections favours the latter.
The victory of candidate Buhari only fuelled the entrenched hatred and distrust between the major tribes in country and fanned the embers of political instability.
From the pattern of agitations presently witnessed in the country, it is clear to see that a section of the country are still peeved by the electoral loss of former President.
The Niger-delta avengers are seen as a parallel response to boko haram which to gullible minds were sponsored by Buhari and the Apc. Their illogical argument is that since Buhari sponsored Boko haram in order to make Nigeria ungovernable for Jonathan, the Niger delta militants by striking at our main source of revenue would make Nigerian ungovernable for Buhari. One can't help but to think that the main enemy of Nigeria are Nigerians.
On the surface, the perceived reason for their agitations is based on marginalization. However, a discerning mind aught to deeply reflect on the issue of marginalization and ask some pertinent questions.
For years now, oil producing states have been entitled to 13 percent derivation from oil proceeds. The big question should be what did their leaders do with the money?
Why,For six years, all separatist agitations went comatose only for them to miraculously come back to life within the last one year? All these and many more should be asked.
The underlying truth which many observers and writers alike have failed to see is that the ascension of Buhari into power came at a time when Islam is seen as evil. When it is easy to cast aspersions on an innocent individual simply because he is Muslim.
Nigeria and Nigerians are on the verge of sacrificing our best chance to get things right on the altar of ethno-regionalism.
If Buhari fails, so does Nigeria. We are gradually being sucked into a vortex of great despair. It is only a man who has not yet tasted war that would wish for it. Those drumming for war are obviously living in fools Paradise. The youths who are gullible enough to fall for the antics of power chasers should give premium to their minds over their visceral organs. The life of a youth is not worth the struggle for power.
We have been fractured irreparably. My beloved Nigeria is terminally ill. The giant is reeling in throes of death.
Vultures are on the prowl waiting for her carcass. When will she heave her last breath?... Perhaps A Glorious Miracle is on its way!

The most difficult age for any man born in Nigeria should be between 24 and 29 years, the pressure to be something, to be someone is so immense.

The most difficult age for any man born in Nigeria should be between 24 and 29 years, the pressure to be something, to be someone is so immense.
When you look around you everyone seems to be doing something for themselves, people seem to be living a life you only dream of. You have applied for jobs and the results have been more disappointing than Yakubu Aiyegbeni penalty kick at the world cup.
Sadly this is the age when most guys lose it, the age when if not careful one is consumed by alcohol or drugs, because the disappointments become too much and you find alternative ways to face reality. Worse is when a few people you studied with have been lucky enough to land jobs, soon your circle of friends gets thinner – mostly they don’t even cut you out but you will be real with yourself and cut yourself off. I mean what will you do when you are in a WhatsApp group of friends and they are discussing about last week’s trip in Dubai and planning another trip South Africa while you are not sure of what your next meal would be?
Most times you follow the conversation silently, all alone like a cross on the grave. Soon you realize this is no longer your kind of crowd because the more you keep around the more the pressure to be something, takes a toll on you. You know when stories about house parties come up and you act deaf because you don’t know where an extra 5 guys would fit in your house. Have you ever sat in a group of people discussing the new iPhone on the market or how British Airways offers poo services and you can feel your heart whisper to you “boss this is chest pain hour, can we just go and find a group that talks about GMAT, SHLn Dragnet, jobberman or job vacancies sites“.
But you sit there as these people are lost in their lifestyle conversations, you are like a secretary taking minutes in meeting. You are totally forgotten like one of a woman’s breasts during pre-intimacy. Once in a while one of the friends will turn and ask if you need another drink and you wonder if you should just say No and head home, but head home to do what? So you grudgingly drop in the comment “I will have just one last one“ Lie.
But after a few years of job hunting, you are now ready to take anything even if is to smell a rich man’s farts as long as it pays , so you end up as an office messenger in one blue chip company in town. To imagine that 4-5 years of studying and getting a degree is now reduced to picking and dropping off letters and if you are not doing that, you are being sent for cheap lunch by the employees when they are broke and they can’t order with fast food. This is when conversations about where people schooled start, you go silent for it’s no longer of any use to say you also reached University, it doesn’t matter – you have resorted to surviving.
Once in while you will bump into your now well to do classmates, they would offer you lunch, but not even eating the meals at Eko Hotel or Sheraton will make you feel better about yourself, because in your mind you wish instead they would give you the 30k and you sort your meals for the next 5 weeks. As it is the norm you will have photos taken, and uploaded on Facebook, but always it’s your face that would look the odd one out – not even the best filters can hide a face which has suffered the city’s dust and sun but survives on boiled beans.
The worst mistake you can do during this period is to try and date – there is nothing that a person going through such times can offer in terms of love. How are you going to do evening romantic walks when you are tired from walking delivering letters in offices around town? What are you going to tell your lady when she says she wants to go for your 20ths

Federal High Court slams injunction on Runtown (details)

This is Ericmany Records side of the story. Read below...
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has slammed an injunction against the rising musical artiste Douglas Jack-Agu aka "Runtown". The injunction prevents him from performing at any event or any form of recording for the time being unless with the approval of Ericmany Limited. Runtown is signed under the Ericmany Entertainment label that presently holds the copyright to all his music.
He was sued in the Federal High Court by Ericmany on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical shows without the knowledge of the label. Ericmany Entertainment was said to have invested millions of naira on Runtown.

However trouble started when Runtown apparently with the connivance of Bug Media ran by one Bugwu Aneto began to sideline Ericmany and collected money directly for shows without the knowledge of Ericmany. Bug Media is also a party to the court case.

In another twist of events, the management of Ericmany has sacked the said Bugwu Aneto as General Manager of the company for infractions which might not be unconnected with his alleged connivance with Runtown to shortchange the Label Ericamany.

All inquiries about the artiste and bookings for shows would no longer be through Aneto but through the management of Ericmany.

It is not clear how the young artiste is reacting to the court case and injunction. Observers suggest he was misled by Bugwu, the former General Manager of Ericmany to ditch his boss and benefactor Ericmany, and may now that the chips are down find ways to go back and reconcile with the Ericmany. See Gobe #Whatsapp Will Stop Working On Blackberry And Nokia Operating System By 2016

whatsapp-doble-check

Earlier this week Whatsapp celebrated its 7th years anniversary with its 1 Billion Active users, instead to break a bad news on such a good day, the team decided to wait till on Friday when they announced that: the app will soon be discontinued on BlackBerry and Nokia devices running those company’s operating systems.

Yes! that include the Blackberry 10 device, Though the new Android-powered Blackberry Priv slider phone might probaly survive this heat because it was built with Android OS.

According to WhatApp Announcement

As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms:

1. BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10
2. Nokia S40
3. Nokia Symbian S60
4. Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
5. Windows Phone 7.1

whatsapp for nokia and blackberry

While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future

The Nokia S40 discontinuation will deeply affect developing countries like Nigeria because most people still uses old Nokia phone. The like of Nokia asha 200 and 203, Nokia 6100, 6200, Nokia c2 and c3 just to mention a few. I know most of us still love our old nokia phones. WhatsApp suggests “upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone” if you want to keep on using the service — if not, you’ll need to find another messaging service by the end of the year before the service got discontinued.

So do you think this is necessary?
